Greetings loyal cyber friends, it's been a while!
We hope you've all fared well since our last post, and that Christmas, summer, Easter and everything in between has been happy and peaceful.
We've spent the first part of our year becoming well acquainted with our new home. We've found the best dog walks and the best fishing spots; taught ourselves to make sourdough (won't be attempting that in Loretta's kitchen); learned how to play cribbage (the Labs have just enough toes to count to 15); and re-discovered the joy of getting around on two wheels, albeit with the help of a battery on account of the enormous hills and very old knees.
We've also discovered a lovely little ukulele commmunity and added lots of new songs to our repertoire, some of which have been practiced so long and so hard the Labs roll their eyes and cover their ears when they hear the opening few bars.
Loretta's had most of the residual red dust removed from her crevices, and the Labs have reached something close to elite fitness chasing down bandicoots, assorted lizards and, occasionally, the neighbour's cats. So we're all in fine fettle and preparing to begin our first little adventure for the year.
Our first stop, funnily enough, is Canberra where we started our travels just a few weeks short of two years ago. Who'd have thought? From there ... well you'll have to keep an eye on your inbox to find out.
Many of you will be pleased to know, after last year's shenanigans, we'll have company on this trip to keep us safe and to listen politely when the uke comes out. We're very much looking forward to hitching the wagons; rolling out the convoy; and to use Penguin parlance, waddling off down the road. How's that for a bunch of mixed metaphors?
So strap yourselves in, friends, and stay tuned for the 2024 adventures of the Labs and the Penguin.
We hope you enjoy this random selection of photos to keep you going until the rubber hits the road in just a few days.
Lovely to have you back! Sue P.
