Our week in Adelaide didn't go exactly to plan and, after yet another trip to the ED, we had a family conference and decided it was time to head for home before anything else could go wrong. We were delighted to be reunited with good mates in Adelaide who are now escorting us back to Eden and making sure we get there in one piece.
Our first stop was Bordertown, birthplace of RJL Hawke - our 23rd Prime Minister, skuller of beer, and wearer of lairy jackets. Among other things. We paid homage at the great man's bust in the town square.
From there we crossed the border, made a pit stop in Dimboola, and set up camp in Stawell, at the northern end of the Grampian (Gariwerd) National Park. This is Djab Wurrung and Jardwardjali country.
In the Dreamtime, the great anscestor spirit, Bunjil, created the mountains, lakes, forests, rivers, and the seas and plains. He also created the animals, birds and plants. After he'd created the sandstone ranges of Gariwerd he took the form of Werpil, the Eagle, so that he could soar over the cliffs and view his work.
We spent a lovely day exploring a small part of the National Park and admiring Bunjil's creation from various lookouts around the picturesque village of Halls Gap.
Here are some photos of Bordertown, Dimboola and the Grampians. And one of the Labradors being silly.
I have really enjoyed all of your posts Barb. And love the photos. I’ll drive ‘escort‘ for you anytime. H.
