The fire was good but what about the sausages?

The official beginning of our Great Australian Adventure finds us camped in Ngarigo country, Bungendore NSW. Great weather and the excitement of our first night was reason enough to christen the new firepit/bbq. The fire got going easily enough and provided the right amount of heat and ambiance. We were joined for our first meal by our little mate, Paddy Pogo aka Paddy Melon, Pad Thai and other amusing variations. Unfortunately no one (me) checked the fridge temperature and the sausages were a bit on the frozen side. After half an hour of not very much sizzle we resorted to Plan B, and threw them into a fry pan to cook on Loretta's stove top. They had a slightly smoky flavour and no one's dead yet so I'm putting this one down as a bit of an anti-climax, rather than a full-blown campfire catastrophe. Lesson learned.
