We took a vote and decided it was worth the risk of over-posting to post a short postscript to yesterday's post. I think that sentence actually qualifies as an over-post but we'll press on.
Today we went to Wadawurrung country and took a very enjoyable stroll along the Geelong waterfront. We've seen a few waterfronts and esplanades in our travels but Geelong's has to be up there with the best of them. Beautifully maintained, quirky and something for every type of human and hound. Well done Geelong Council.
From there we ventured further south to Point Lonsdale where a lighthouse looks out over Port Phillip Heads and "the Rip", where the ocean and Port Phillip Bay run into each other, causing one of the most dangerous waterways in the world.
The lighthouse was built in 1852 is still staffed 24 hours a day, guiding ships into Port Phillip Bay. The waters of Port Phillip Heads are part of a national marine park and home to all sorts of marine flora and flora. The whole area is pristine and we had a great time exploring it.
We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed taking them. If you're a fan of rugged cliffs and brooding seas, strap yourselves in - we're about to hit the Great Ocean Road.
More great photos. I'd suggest that the Geelong City Council's efforts in attracting more folk (visitors and residents) is probably paying off. Their footy team causes many of us some degree of pain though!
