Barron River (Bibhoora)

The past few days we’ve enjoyed pottering around the bits of Cairns that aren’t national park and therefore off limits to two-thirds of our little troupe.

We took a drive up to Barron Gorge, and although we couldn’t explore anything much beyond the car park, we got a pretty good view of the Barron River which winds it’s way all through the Atherton Tablelands, through the gorge and eventually out to sea.

The Barron River also gave its name to my ukulele, which was made in these parts from Curly Blackwood, which I like to think was sourced from the Tablelands but which could really have come from anywhere between here and Tassie. Even so, the Barron River stokes a chord with us. (See what I did there?)

Today we had a lovely long walk along the esplanade and treated ourselves to a rare pub lunch. That is, the one of us that pays all the bills ate lunch while the others watched on. And drooled, just a little bit.

Stunning pics. You’re making me so itchy footed though I’m here in Brissy which is, at least, warm and sunny. What a great trip you three are having Barb

We would’ve enjoyed a live performance on the uke! Surely the app (and you) could do that. The K9s coulda sung along!

Technology being as it is, we’re lucky to be able to publish a post today. I think a live gig would completely break the app!
